Answers

Q: How do you control the timing of a SmartPlug?
As an engine speeds up and slows down the timing of when ignition takes places must also change. If not, the fuel may ignite too soon causing pinging (that awful noise you hear under your hood). This is very hard on the engine. If the fuel ignites too late, you lose power. This is very inefficient. For engines that run at a constant RPM, a specific SmartPlug is built for optimum performance at whatever the given RPM is. For engines that have variable timing, the SmartPlug system is equipped with a electronic circuit to change the timing. This device is called a timing controller.

Q: Can SmartPlug be installed on any type of engine? Engines SmartPlugs run Back to top
Yes! SmartPlug can be easily installed into any internal combustion engine. From Model-Ts to modern cars, from outboard motorboats to ocean liners or from portable generators to industrial power plants, SmartPlug can run them. All that is needed to determine which SmartPlug is needed is:
check1.gif (878 bytes) How many SmartPlugs the engine needs.
check1.gif (878 bytes) What are the thread size of the hole (this is the hole where a spark plug would normally go).
check1.gif (878 bytes) What is the compression ratio of the engine.

Q: How many components make up a SmartPlug system? Back to top
A SmartPlug ignition system consists of:
check1.gif (878 bytes) One SmartPlug for each cylinder
check1.gif (878 bytes) A wiring harness
check1.gif (878 bytes) If needed, a timing controller

Q: How easy is it to install SmartPlug? Back to top
Installation of a SmartPlug ignition system is as easy as replacing your spark plugs.  Simply:
check1.gif (878 bytes) Remove all components of the previous ignition system (With engines whose ignition systems are controlled by a computer, the computer must be replaced to accommodate SmartPlug. CLICK HERE for more detail.)
check1.gif (878 bytes) Install one SmartPlug where the previous ignition source (such as a spark plug) would go.
check1.gif (878 bytes) Attach the SmartPlug wiring harness and timing controller (as needed).
check1.gif (878 bytes) Connect to starter and battery.
***Now you are ready to go!!!

Q: Where can I purchase a SmartPlug ignition system for my use? Back to top
Since our present facilities are not suited for high demand production of SmartPlugs, we are presently in the process of out-sourcing the production. Therefore, SmartPlug is not available to the general public at this time. Prior to high volume production, it is anticipated that SmartPlug will soon become available for those with research and development (R&D) purposes. We will posting updates as we know them. Please check back later.
